The Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve wine is a must for lovers of this native grape type. It’s about as characteristically Pinotage as you’ll get!
The grapes are harvested meticulously and fermentation occurs over 5-7 days with batonnage and later spontaneous malolactic fermentation. This wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels.
Dark cherry tones are visible in this medium-bodied Pinotage. You’ll notice dark cocoa aromas mingling with cedar, then jammy notes in blackberry and cassis. The palette is well-structured with rounded tannins, bursting with dark fruits and vanilla. It has a long smooth finish and a personality that will only get better with ageing.
We recommend the Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve with slow cooked and spiced dishes, such as beef goulash and stroganoff.
